The National Science Foundation (NSF) is the Nation’s premier agency supporting basic research and education in mathematics, science, engineering and technology. Its granting decisions are made on the basis of Merit Review by science and engineering peers. All NSF proposals, as part of the Merit Review process, are evaluated with respect to two equally important Merit Review Criteria—the Intellectual Merit of the project and the Broader Impacts of the work.
